How do workers build power where they work?
Join seasoned organizers and fellow workers for a practical discussion on taking direct action, building solidarity, and winning real change on the job.
Across the country, we’ve been meeting with workers from a wide range of industries: baristas, rideshare drivers, warehouse workers, big tech employees, retail staff, and beyond. These conversations have brought together people at different stages of their organizing journeys to share experiences, build collective power, and reignite the solidarity needed to create more just workplaces.
We’ll use ideas from Daniel Gross’s Unions of Our Own as a jumping-off point, but no prior reading or experience is required.

Unions of Our Own provides a radically new, step-by-step framework for workers who want to dramatically improve their jobs—and dream of bigger changes too. In this new book out now from Haymarket, Daniel Gross, co-author of Labor Law for the Rank & Filer and a founding organizer of the IWW Starbucks Workers Union and of Brandworkers explores the eight fundamental building blocks of unions that sustain. Through proven tools, personal stories from campaigns, vivid history, and real-world examples, Unions of Our Own offers a practical and powerful approach for workers to design their own unions and win.
